“Awesome campground!”

We'd been traveling in small towns for over a month and needed a place to setup for a week or so to do errands and get some work done. The Bannock County Fairgrounds were perfect!

The fairgrounds are a few minutes from the core of Pocatello, ID. What a great town. It had everything we needed: Home Depot, Costco, UPS Store, Kroger/Fred Meyer grocery, and plenty of restaurants.

Our AT&T cell signal was excellent.

We stayed the week of July 4th at the fairgrounds.

The first weekend there were only six total RVs in the park. With plenty of spaces it almost felt like we had the place to ourselves. The sites are very grassy which we liked. The first weekend there was a barrel racing competition as well as a youth rodeo competition. We walked over and enjoyed watching for a couple hours. The horse and livestock are not allowed near the RV park area so no worries if that's an issue for you, but the arenas are only a couple minutes walk away if you want to watch the action.

More RVs started rolling in on July 3rd as a lot of locals setup in the park to watch the Pocatello July 4th celebration which we learned was only a couple blocks away! The park was very busy for July 4th with probably half the RV spots filling up. We did have a wonderful view of the city's firework show, though.

After the 4th celebration we had many RVs arrive because there was a 4-day baseball tournament nearby and many families were staying in the park for that.

By Sunday of our second weekend we were again one of about eight RVs in the park and it was wonderful quiet and spacious again.

So during the summer and especially around a holiday this park can get pretty busy.

There are NO reservations. We had a guy tell us he "reserved" a couple spots near us for July 4th but I asked at the fairgrounds office and the lady kinda rolled her eyes and said there's no reserving. It's first come first serve. Note: The fairgrounds office is a bit further down from the RV park along the main road. It's an older white house.

The pay box and envelopes are on the side of the main road between the middle RV rows. There is a dump station on the edge of the park as well that has water hoses for cleaning up and is very nice.

The bathhouse here is great. Very large with several toilets and showers. The showers are spacious and each shower stall area has a nice bench, shelf, and plenty of hooks to set your items on. We used the showers and toilets every day as we knew we'd be there a while and didn't want to fill up our tanks and have to hitch up to make a mid-stay dump.

There's a small army taking care of this place. They have trash cans every few RV sites which was very convenient and they are emptied daily. They are also always watering the grass in areas where no one is camping which was nice to see.

We have a dog and there were plenty of areas to walk her and give her grass time. Plus with the nice grassy sites we were able to let her out on her stake a lot when the RV park wasn't busy.

One final note is that just a block away is a very nice park with large pond, amphitheater, and walking paths. There were always people out there kayaking, swimming, and fishing in the pond. Beautiful park and within walking distance of the RV park. Also within walking distance is the Idaho National Guard building and outside the building are several old tanks you can look at. Pretty cool.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Bannock County Fairgrounds. Will definitely stay again if we're in the area!

“A very peaceful week. ”

Rebecca had to fly out for a week and Pocatello had a airport and a great place to stay. Both ATT and Verizon worked here. I think it costs about $20 a night. The sites have water and electricity and a dump station is on site.

I stayed here in early November and had the place all to myself. The staff was amazingly friendly and allowed us to have mail/packages shipped there, they even delivered!

The sites are not very level so be prepared to add some blocks. Since the park was empty we were allowed to park lengthwise. There are clean bathrooms with showers and wifi. The wifi was not very strong, but with patience I was able to upload videos.

There are rodeo grounds here and people came and practiced in the evening. There is a lake on site with stocked trout. I was even able to off load the ATV and use it to get around the fairgrounds. If you enjoy geocaching there are lots here. We were able to use Uber to get Rebecca to the airport and I went into town.

I made a handful of videos while I was here. They all showcase different parts of the fairgrounds.
