The last time I checked only the pool was open and you had to buy a day pass. I know when we stayed there in 2016 it was cheaper to get the TX state park pass but that's because we were going to go to several parks. The entry fee is $7 so for 2 that was $14 and the annual pass is $70 so we went for it.

Yes you do! When we were traveling out west from Florida, we stayed on a couple of Texas parks both coming and going, so the year pass was a good investment. You will need a reservation, hope this helps!
