This was not a good experience.
1. Road was washed out
2. Campsite across from us had 11 trucks, 55 people
3. Kids riding their quads and bikes starting at 6:30 am 5 feet from our trailer in the middle of the campground
4. 4 guys shooting pellet gun on the hills
5. Loud music at 11:30 pm
6. Campsite not marked
7. Campsite not level and couldn't get trailer there
8. Felt really ripped off by Recreation.gov

Ballinger is a dirt bike/ATV/4 wheeling campground.
There is nothing there except some nasty vault toilets and dumpsters.
It's barren except for some Juniper and showing the signs of CA's drought, tons of sand and dry river beds.
It is mostly a rowdy boy's spot, my observation based on some of the trash left behind But...we were the only one's there. That's the advantage of being a little bit older as we can go during the work week.
It ain't pretty but it had a nice ghost town, without the town, feel.
My dogs had a blast running around we were able to test our new solar and satellite out.
We went to dry run our new equipment and ride our dirt bikes which is what it is for.
Not sure how many stars to give but I would not suggest a holiday week or any weekend. There was a lot of beer and cigarette butts evidence.
It is about 5-10 minutes from Cuyama.
We had Verizon and AT&T devices and both were decent.
Susanna 🐶🌺🌎🐳💘 would stay here again
