Baker's Hole Campground

Gorgeous campground, clean facilities. Well spaced gravel sites. Some have electric. Easy Madison river access. There is mild road noise. Firewood for sale $8.
The toads by the river secrete a bad tasting poison. Not sure how toxic it is. My dog was ok after washing out her mouth then after a few hours she was back to herself. Had me nervous!

Really like the spot signs showing when people are checking out. Makes it easy to know if there will be an opening that day.

Sights are all wide, super easy back in and a few pull through. 25 through 50 have power. Water fill at entrance. Very busy campground all first come so get there early.

Juvenile black bear in campground in the evening. Keep those dogs on leash and your eyes open. Also make sure to use bear boxes in the site for food and smelly stuff if in a tent.

We stayed here for two nights and were really happy with the cleanliness of this campground. The bathrooms, although vault toilets, smelled very good and were extremely clean.
At night you can hear the cars at times passing along the adjacent highway…so it’s not super quiet, but the perks of the location make up for that issue if you’re visiting the national park. This campground is a 5 min drive from west Yellowstones restaurants, shops and grocery store.
One downside was that we pre-booked our spot online and had wanted to switch sites to a different unoccupied site the first night we arrived and we were told by the hosts that wasn’t possible due to the online sites and in person available sites not being interchangeable. I suggest if you’re going on a non busy camp weekend, just wait and pick your site in person, so you can get exactly which site you want.

*pro tip* Site 51 has the most space semi away from other campsites, and an amazing view of the lake

Both hosts were easy to work with. One was very helpful in getting us backed into our space. We had lots of room, the adjacent sites were far enough away we felt isolated. It is a few yard from the sites to the Madison River. The campground is close to a highway, thus road noise most of the evening. Overall a very inexpensive place to spent six nights close to Yellowstone Park.

We had a great experience at this campground. The camp hosts were great. They were very friendly and we’re seen regularly driving through camp picking up any trash and making sure everyone was comfortable. The sites are large and you are surrounded by trees. It was first come first served and we were lucky to get a great site with power. We had the park pass so it was only $18/night. Free potable water, no dumb station. Great little river that runs through camp. Off of the highway but not too noisy at all.
