I took a friend who has since passed, he loved the outdoors and fishing and hiking, we had a great weekend, it was a couple years ago. It's just like Yosemite park, if you're familiar. Has a beautiful river running right up to a lot of camps, I used to go with my family back when I was a teen. I loved it then still do. It was unimproved way back then, no fees, but hey it was the 70s I can highly recommend this camp to get away from it all. Very nice people there every time I've been, bbq pits and camp table ,places for a tent or you can stay in your camper (suburban for me) and you can fish, hike on many long trails, too many good things to say, only draw back if you can call it that, is the primitive toilets, get over that and you are fine. There is a little village I call it, Kennedy Meadows just a min down a paved road, didn't used to be, it was dirt till a few years ago. They have a bar, diner and general store, if you need supplies, nice people running the place. Have fun!! I would go in June, or early July, it can get hot in the summer, but not in the 100's like the valley. Oh and if you are adventurous, take a drive up hwy 108 (Sonora pass) a crazy little road that is one of the steepest bive ever driven. Please be cary, make sure your clutch is good and brake pads. Oh as far as cell service, I didn't have any a few years ago, maybe the 5 G network has invaded the forest, as for myself, don't even bother with a phone, tell them you will be back in a few days. A week. Ha ha. It's to get away. Not sure the web .
