No rest rooms no water
Lots of wildlife beware of large crows if traveling with small dogs and chipmunks love to forage for food so pick up around site or you will have visitors. The hummingbirds nest near by our site and that was pretty cool to see as well. Some riders aren’t very respectful as they were riding up into our site well past dark

We ventured to Terryall Reservoir which is about 30 min drive and its beautiful out there.
There is some ATVs in the area but they weren't obnoxious and keep it quiet after 8pm.

I will agree with most previous reviews in that this places asthetics are amazing but you just can't ignore how completely inconsiderate MOST of the off road traffic is. You find that perfect spot on top of a hill overlooking the trees and looking up at a nice tall mountain and think... wow, now this is heaven right? WRONG!!! If you make the mistake of parking anywhere near a road, you have just committed yourself to a stay filled with dirt. It would really not be so bad if they had even the slightest amount of consideration and would slow down but that if evidently asking too much. After 2 days we moved from FS704 to FS223 a bit farther removed from a road and it was better but if the wind was in the right direction you are doomed to be covered up still. There is plenty of room for even the largest rig but you would as always be wise to scout ahead without your trailer as some of the curves can be a bit tight but the road coming in from another direction just fine. Looking for something to do I filled 2 , 33 gallon trash bags with crap from various campsites in the area. I was amazed when after one large group of RV campers left, i found only tire tracks as any sort of indication that they had even been there. I wish i could have thanked them for such a nice job of cleaning up after themselves. Now that i have bitched let me say it is in a great location. Water, propane and food supplies are close by. You can buy ice at the M Lazy C dude ranch about 3.5 miles away east on US24. They also have RV sites, both primitive and full hookup as well. And let me also say they are about the most friendly folks i have met out here. The humming birds were very entertaining as we had about 10 or so buzzing about at times no more than inches from us.

There is HEAVY ATV, Dirt bike, Razor etc use in the area. MOST operators are respectful however, there’s always the 1 asshole that has to rev up the RPM’s or dig up the trails creating huge dust clouds. Then there’s the operators that think just because they’re up at 7am it’s alright to start their ATV’s up and buzz past everyone else’s camps waking them up. Some of these are kids itching to ride and could be dealt with by their parents simply teaching them manners and respect for others. Unfortunately, there’s always those individuals that only consider themselves...
There’s significant Cell service for Sprint/T Mobile, phone, internet etc.
The area does fill up early on Friday’s for the weekend, unless you’re familiar with the area definitely get there before dark.
There’s areas that look perfect for a campsite BUT if you look closely you’ll see they sit in drainage areas and have the potential to be covered in runoff in the event of even light rain.

The sites are big and spread out, the sights just a few minutes hike away are astounding! Definitely need 4x4 if any weather is inbound or has been recently. Cows are out and about so mind your animals! Other than the occasional moo, all we heard was the wind and the birds! Serenity!

Because of its relatively easy access and numerous campsites, we chose Badger Flats as the location for our first boondocking experience. There are three excellent fisheries close by all of which are fed by the South Platte River. A short 20-minute drive westward you’ll find Spinney Reservoir, The Dream Stream and Eleven Mile Reservoir. These fisheries provide access to cutthroat, rainbow and brown trout as well as northern pike and even Kokanee salmon.
As we turned off highway 24, we immediately saw No Camping signs but soon realized this applies only to the state-owned land which borders the highway. One mile further up CR 31, we reached the federal land where camping is allowed. The side roads are flat and in reasonable shape which allowed us to tow our 22-foot trailer without concern. There are likely more than a hundred campsites scattered throughout the area some in the trees and some more exposed. Riders of off-road vehicles are aware of Badger Flats. Everyone was considerate always slowing down when approaching a campsite. Target shooting occurred throughout the day which might be a consideration for some.
Our cell phones had a difficult time connecting to a Verizon signal despite the close proximity of a cell phone tower on top of Badger Mountain. Signal strength was 1-2 bars at best. We rarely received a 3G carrier.
Being near the top of Wilkerson Pass, the area can become rather windy at times. We took advantage of some calmer weather on day two to take a short hike during which we spotted a badger crossing the OHV trail. We kept our distance as he intently watched us from his home which was less than 10 feet from the trail. Not sure who named Badger Flats or when, but it was fun to see they are still doing well there today.

This is just east of Wilkerson Pass, with Tarryall Reservoir to the north, and Eleven Mile Reservoir to the south. This site was off the main spur, so should be relatively quiet even on big off-road weekends. Nice views to the west of Badger Mountain (especially w/the fall colors). Huge site - there would have been plenty of room for multiple tents and/or campers. Road was a bit rutted coming in, but very doable if you go slow & take your time. Had Verizon 3G (about 3 bars), although it did come & go a bit. Were even able to pick up a few tv channels using the antenna.
