It has been dry for a while when I came but this was honestly a great place to boondock. You’re about 5.5 miles off of 380 on FS 57 which was fairly well groomed gravel and hard pick dirt when I got here. Some areas were washboard.
Baca campground itself has several spots that could accommodate big rigs. There are two spots across from the main campsites that are together.
When you look at the map you can see a loop for the campsites. I was not able to go around the loop with my low clearance TT due to large ruts and washouts, however when you take the westerly (first) entrance you can go up onto the field in the middle of the loop fairly easily. Fairly flat and several scattered fire rings and trees.
If you want a touch more privacy and don’t have ground clearance there may be one or two spots from the easterly (second) entrance of the loop that you can get to, however if they are occupied I’m not sure how you would turn around.
There was one family that seemed permanent here with trash outside but very close to their trailer. Their children often wandered over near me but they seemed harmless and like fine people aside from that.
The view is nice but not awe inspiring. You’ll hear occasional off-road vehicles (especially the weekend) but fairly quiet otherwise.
Overall a wonderful place. There’s dumpsters near beginning of FS57.
Signal wasn’t great but with booster I was able to do video meetings (barely).
Verizon and ATT without booster was -113dB (1bar). With booster was -111dB (2bar).
TMobile had no signal without booster. 1 bar with booster.

There were about 5 big rigs at the campsite but still plenty of open campsites near the restrooms available.
We stayed for one night and would return in the future. Very beautiful and quiet.

Cons: weak cell signal-was able to do email and watch YouTube with the weBoost but couldn't do work meetings, some large ruts in the access roads, lots of trash and broken glass that we cleaned up, very dry and windy.
We liked this campground in general but probably wouldn't stay more than a couple nights.

Baca Campground is a great place to camp. I was there a few nights ago and hardly anybody there, couple other families but couldn’t see em. Whole bunch of stars out too! Bout a 5 mile drive on a gravel road. I made it in a Prius so pretty much anything can handle this road, though I went when it was dry. If it rains or had recently rained that might be another situation. A good part of the road in is private with residences all along it but you’re good to go through as long as you’re respectful. Some people left some trash at the site I was at, picked it up for them though. Ultimately it’s an awesome free as heck campground. Worth it!

The campground looks just like the pictures posted here and on You Tube. PROs: Lots of mostly level camp sites to choose from. Places for most any size rig to fit (I drive a Ram Promaster 159 van-about 20.5 feet. Nice scenery, mix of pine and juniper trees with mountain background. I had a strong AT&T signal (3-5 bars) during my entire stay. I was able to work on-line all day, each day without interruption. 2 bathrooms, pit toilets were clean. CONs: Cattle! lots of cow paddies, watch your step. One night, about 50-75 head of black angus cattle came into the campground to graze. The bulls make this god-awful grunting, snorting, bellowing sounds. The cattle left the campground after dark. It was a little scary to see dark, shadowy figures weighing in anywhere from 1200-1800 pounds walking feet from your camp site making all of that noise. There were also lots of flys which were a bit of a nuisance when I sat outside to work. Overall, a very good, free camp spot, cool mornings (this was mid-June) with a strong AT&T signal for you digital nomads. I would stay here again.

You follow a 6 mile gravel road and than you suddey land on this huge homestead converted into a campsite thats level for the most part. There is four vault toilets throught the campsite. They were very clean and stocked with toilet paper. No hookups, trash, or water. The grass was short and maintained.
There was well over a dozen campsites marked with stone fire pits. About ten of the those sit in an open field with large wide trees that you can park right under. The shade is amazing. The other sites sit in the shrubby woods on short, bumpy, dirt roads. Thise sites are actually pretty private. I drove along plenty of the loops and though I had to drive slow, it was doable in my suv. A Jeep or 4x4 would probably be best though. There was one cement rv pad but it seemed pretty old and cracked.
I had the best 1-3 bars of Verizon service here ever. I was able to facetime, stream movies, download books, etc. It was awesome.
There is a town about 30 minutes away in Capitan, NM with a well stocked grocery store, smoky bear museum, and a couple of diners. Theres also the Fort Stanton Conservation Area nearby with pleanty of hiking trails. I'll definetly be back.
