Beautiful spot, not for trailers or RVs though... If you have a van with decent clearance or an all-terrain type trailer or your a truck/tent camper, GO FOR IT!
No cell service, but starlink worked well!
So we have a 25 ft airstream, and I wish I would have unhitched to scope out the 2.1.mile road to the campground, because if I did, I would NOT have brought our trailer back there! (I guess that's why the 2 entry signs day "road not suited for trailers"....)
Let me clarify, too... we restored our 1973 airstream to live in full time and boondock 90% of the time. Ramona is no stranger to beaten paths! Remote places are our favorite. You can see some of those on IG @ramona_the_airstream
The road is quite rough in many spots with deep potholes, ditches, v-shaped ruts to climb then go down and back up (dragged our drop hitch a few times, fortunately not the trailer bottom!). You also have to cross a 15ft wide creek at one point. That said, we really enjoyed our visit once we finally got here and had a beer or 2 to relieve our nerves from the stressful treck in...lol
It is sweet though.. You can hear the creek behind you, take a dip or just enjoy splashing some refreshing Rockies water on your face. There's a few long hikes at the end of the road, which are frequented by occasional vehicles driving by.
PS - we arrived Oct 1st to signs that said the campground was closed, but no one bothered us during our stay. There's no gates to close it or anything, I think that just means they don't patrol the area, service the vault toilets etc. So it was free, and lovely.
Tom would stay here again

Let me preface this by saying, although we have an airstream, we're not the boojie type.. We travel full time in our 25ft 1973 airstream that we restored to live in, and we boondock 90% of the time. We're no strangers to going places, Ramona has been down some beaten paths...
