It is ok to spend one night, there are no sites, only dirt roads going down the lake, not very easy to find a leveled spot, we ended up close to the restroom.

First time here. Less than a dozen campers. The new concessionaire is collecting fees. A new pay station should be installed soon that will be able to handle the differences between camping/interagency pass/day use fees. The price displayed reflects the senior interagency pass price. The wind is still free.

We are full timers and work on the road so internet and solar are our #1 and #2 priorities. Both were great!
The only bad was the damn wind was insane everyday starting in late Monring early afternoon. It was so annoying we ended up moving to the other side of lake which was less windy.

The water is freezing too which helps cool off the day.
The roads are dirt but easy enough to drive on, there are some soft spots to watch out for. There is a dump site towards the exit, kind of hard to find, but we're happy there was one.

Not a bad spot. Very windy. Easy access to camp next to the lake. Lots of construction smells blowing in. Coverage is ok.

Wanted to share this spot. We stayed 5 nights and left to do a trade show over the weekend and returned for 5 more nights. Really enjoyed our stay. Seems to crowd up on the weekends by the amount of camper coming in on Friday evening. But, easy to spread out and not be too close to others. It's about an hour east of Bakersfield, CA and a pretty drive. A ranger drove through and asked each camper how long they've been there. He was very nice. The primitive bathroom is close for the winter. Dumpsters are available. The city of Lake Isabella is close by for supplies.

Great place if you don’t mind a little wind. If your tent camping make sure you have a tent that can hold up to gusts and wind. Right on the lake. With your National Park Pass it’s free. Otherwise it’s 20.00.

Great boondocking spot. Right on the lake, free with your national parks pass. $10 to dump. Lots of hiking and off-roading around. Big rigs friendly.

Not only is it free to camp here (with a national park pass), but there are dumpsters, port-o-lets, a freshwater spigot, and even a dump station (for a fee). The camp host was super helpful and friendly and seemed to genuinely care that we were enjoying our stay.
One note of caution is that it can be VERY windy here. We had to re-position mid-stay to avoid some of the wind.
