This campground is the sister to the Big Atlantic Gulch campground about 7/10 of a mile from here. Both have fire rings, ADA compliant picnic tables and gravel pads. BLM has a host that goes back and forth between campsites. He basically answers questions, gives recommendations about the local history and places for gas and food. Pets must be leashed and quiet hours are from 10pm to 7am. There is potable water available and clean vault toilets as well. If you like nature, cool weather in the summer and critters showing up anytime, you will love Atlantic City Campground and the Big Atlantic Gulch Campground.

Arrived here on Labor Day. About a third of the sites were occupied. Most sites look to be flat and large enough for our 25’ TT. Some tree coverage impacting solar. Nearby Big Atlantic Gulch CG is more open. Less than hone-fourth occupied. Water spigots abound. $6/d. no dump. Had to go to Lander to get gas. Nearby is Atlantic City and South Pass City - muddy roads. Rained the whole time we were here. Couldn’t find any trails to walk the dog.

We stayed at Atlantic City BLM campground on our way through the area. It was clean and quiet, and the vault toilets were also very clean. Beware if you're large, like us, the trees will get you. Our new rig is a 46' toyhauler fifth wheel that we pull with a Freightliner HDT. There were no issues with the roads, coming in the last 1/2 mile is on a well-maintained dirt road and the campground itself is gravel. It hadn't been raining, and dry and firm is what we prefer (to muddy and getting stuck, LOL). The trees could use some trimming, but we understand the reluctance to damage the local flora. Watch out for ticks! There is absolutely NO cell connectivity here, so be prepared. Maybe your weather radio would work, we forgot to test ours. Lander is 25 miles away, the Coalter complex is worth a visit - brews, good food, great ice cream. About 10 miles beyond Lander is Sinks Canyon State Park, where the river disappears into a cave and reappears 1/4 miles downstream. Fascinating, and worth a visit, and there's no admission charge for this state park.

There are a few pull through spots, but the rest are back in and many are quite small. The sites toward the back (ours was #6) are the most private, but all are fairly private. Each of the sites has a fire pit and a picnic table. There were a lot of tent campers and unfortunately one overly large fifth wheel that ran its generator quite a bit. Other than that one generator, it was quiet and peaceful in the campground.
The cost is quite low at $6 (or $3 if you have a senior pass as we do). The campground is just a couple of miles away from historic Atlantic City (with a nice but expensive restaurant -- the Mercantile) and only about 5-6 miles away from the South Pass City State Historic Site. It's also only a couple of miles away from the ghost town of Miner's Delight. There is hiking everywhere surrounding the campground. There's another, even smaller, BLM campground closeby, but the campsites are more out in the open. And, of course, there is dispersed camping for free all around. We liked the convenience of the campground and felt the cost was very minimal for such clean and well-maintained sites.
There are no reservations and there is no cell service.

We had deer around the campground, and there were nice places to walk nearby. South Pass city was not too far away, as well as Atlantic city.
No cell service at all.
