Arkansas Valley Fairground RV Parking

The clerk at city hall said they are doing renovations and it was closed for now. I do not know when they’ll be done. We will try again next time through.

The rental procedure is as follows: go to city hall located at 203 S Main and tell them you want to rent a RV space at the fair grounds. They will ask how many days. The fee is the same for all spaces. They will print a receipt. Be there before the office closes at 5:30pm. They are closed on Fridays and weekends.

They will then contact Stacy. She will meet you there. You can pick out a site while you’re waiting for her. Once she shows up, she will unlock the water and power connections. After that, you’re on your own. Be sure to check that the utilities are working before she leaves.

Features of the location that might be of interest: there is a grocery store just to the south (less than 1/4 mile) with pretty much everything you’d need. They even have a RO (drinking water) filling station on the east side of the building that is open 24/7. See photo in review.

If you need a Walmart, head east on US 50. Go through the town of Swink and right before you get to the town of La Junta, you’ll see one on the right side and you will turn right at the stop light.

I found a really good barber, George, in La Junta that I would recommend located near the US Bank branch at 105 W 2nd St. His shop is called “Department of Cuts”. The Google street view image is outdated and does not show his signage.

FUEL & PROPANE: go to Steir Fuel & Oil located at 100 S 12th St. This is the provider the city uses for bulk. They have regular unleaded at a lower price than the convenience stores AND they sell NO ETHANOL fuel which is hard to find. The locals love putting that in their small engines because they run much better. You will see better mileage in your truck.
