“Great “boondocking” near Aquarius”

Reviewed 9/16/2019

Overall Rating

If you turn left after passing the Aquarius Campground where the road T’s (immediately after crossing the river) there is a large boondocking area a short way down the road on your left. You can’t miss it. There is enough room in a large cleared area to accommodate a half dozen rv’s right along the river with decent privacy. There is also a very clean pit toilet at one end of this large boondocking area. I love this wilderness location and the miles of hiking trails nearby. It is very remote however and there is no cell service. The closest cell service (and civilization) is in Pierce if you carefully park in front of the hardware store! Remember, this area is remote and an awesome wilderness area. A must see ...

Overall Rating

This is a small, secluded forest service campground on the North Fork of the Clearwater River. It's in the forest, with some understory that provides privacy between some of the sites. It has 9 sites with fire rings and 2 vault toilets, which were clean. A couple of the sites are very close together, with the rest spread out. You can see the river from most of the sites, with sites 2 and 3 being closest to the river. The road through the campground is one lane, with a turn-around at the end. Most of the sites are ok for a small trailer (20 feet or less). It's a pretty area, with the river valley thickly forested with cedar and fir. A group camping area with 3-4 sites is located across the road. The Isabella Landing trailhead (Down River Trail) is located 1 mile down the river from the campground, and there are other roads and trails to explore in the area.
I camped here mid-week in June. About half of the campsites were occupied. It was very quiet and pleasant.
