We had a reservation at Appalachian and parked outside the entrance to check it out first. We think we MIGHT have been able to get into our assigned site, #303, if someone moved their vehicle and pulled in their awnings. But the entrance itself was a hard right turn into a single-lane drive with a big rock at that inside corner. We decided it wasn't worth chancing it with our 68' combo HDT and fifth wheel, so we went to Cabela's instead.
The campground itself seemed nice enough, but the pull-thrus are very close together. Not an issue for us, since we weren't there for the ambiance, but if you need that length you'll be sardined.
The people at the office were very friendly and helpful. Wish we could have stayed, but like many other Thousand Trails parks this one was built long ago and not for rigs as big as ours. If you need a place to overnight, the Cabela's about 8 miles down the freeway is a great choice. You're going to hear freeway noise either way.

Right off highway but completely tucked into woodsy oasis. Mix of permanent and campers but very well maintained, lots of landscaping and tree limbs pruned for big rigs. Restaurant was good too.

The permanent seasonal sites are actually quite nice here
Lots of blooming trees this time of year. There is a gated entrance so you should call to get the code if you're coming off hours. We checked in online but they had no record of it. Didn't matter since there were tons of sites for Sunday through Thursday. Enjoy!

This looks like a typical Thousand Trails campground. The full hookup sites are very close together with no privacy and almost no vegetation. However when we were camped here there were very few other campers so we weren’t at all crowded. There Is a more wooded section with only water and electric, and they seemed to have a little more space and privacy. Then there is a large section with seasonal or full time campers, most of which were well maintained and many beautifully landscaped. The bathrooms were clean and the showers hot. The miniature golf course, the fishing pond and the pool were open, but the restaurant was closed due to Covid. All looked to be well maintained. There was some highway noise, but even with windows open all night, it didn’t bother us - just made for a pleasant white noise. Nearby attractions include some nice hikes in Hamburg, Cabela’s biggest store with an aquarium and an artificial mountain covered with animals, and Crystal Cave - not the most spectacular cave we’ve seen, but enjoyable.

We explored the rest of the campground, and there are better sites further away from the road. We’ll come back and try the sites by the fishing pond. They were spacious and more to our liking. Some full hookup sites we’re very close and Seemed clustered together.

If we weren't on our way to another location, we would have loved to stay longer.
