We were coming here from Yellowstone so the GPS tried to bring us in through the north gate, which is a couple miles of rough forest road (USFS30340/Lost Creek Ranch Rd) that ends at a locked gate. We found that entering from the south via Antelope Flats Rd in Moose was indeed open and a much easier road to drive.
Views are spectacular and there are two standard campground toilets in the middle of the loop. Each site has a steel fire ring and there's plenty of dead firewood in the woods behind the sites.
The sites are a little close together and as of this writing (5/24) the road going up Shadow Mountain to the more isolated sites was still closed for winter.
We got here around 3pm on a Tuesday and there were only 2 sites left; completely full by 4pm. We saw probably 10-15 more cars/trucks come into the campground, see it was full, and leave all the way until 8pm.

Couldn’t make it to campsites 1-8 due to snow. So we stayed on boundary rd pull off and antelope flats rd intersection. There was no sign that said no camping. Stayed for 2 nights and the view of the Tetons was amazing.

Great views from all the sites. Elk nearby.

The Antelope Flats area numbers 1 through 8 accommodates big campers. 2 more camping areas further down accommodate tents only. There is more available on Shadow mountain but rough road 5 mile an hour speed. The road to the Flats is fine.
Our area had a brand new outhouse. We did not use it but everyone said it was really clean. They were asking for donations for outhouse. Donation box.
Downside: very dusty and busy. However everyone was very respectful and friendly. Highly sought after area. Only 10 minutes from Moose entrance to park and drive by the iconic Mormon row barn every time.
Need to be bear aware as with every part of the park. Normally no grizzlies but it has happened.
No water but we used the water refilling bottle station at Jenny Lake. Water stations are also available at Colter Bay and Colter Bay gas station. We carry 5 gallon jugs and 1 gallon jugs at all times.
No trash service. It is free after all!
We did not dump till we got to our next destination. Alpine south of the park has a free dump station. I assume one may be able to dump at park campground for a fee.
A fox roamed around the area and ground squirrels were a plenty.
Thankful for dispersed camping that allowed us to hike this grand area since reservations were non existent.

Note- NOT recommended to turn right and go through the gate to the upper area. It’s not pretty for any size trailer from what others had said.

Another amazing Teton Front Range free camping area. Antelope flat sits at the base of shadow mountain, and hosts roughly 15 campsites. The roads leading to the campground, passing Mormon Row on the way in, are paved or decently graded dirt. Once you reach the Antelope Flat camping area, the story changes a bit. Rutting as of June 2019 was decently intense into and through the Antelope Flat camping area. BUT... we are 40' of tag-axled motorhome, and with some spotting and planning - we were fine. As of June 2019, pulling into these sites is not for the feint - but it's also not 'un-doable'.
We backed into site 5, and enjoyed views of the Tetons, lush, long grass surrounding our rig, a well built fire-ring and sitting log behind the rig, and watching a family of birds nest and feed. There are families of gopher type animals (I'm not animal expert - but they're cute) running amok and it's adorable. There are trees for stringing hammocks across the grass and swinging in the breeze for hours.
It did take us a few attempts to get level - and some blocks as the first layer of ground here is pretty soft - especially for our 42,000lb monstrosity. We felt best about site 5, as we wouldn't be impeding on anyone's views - and it was decently easy to back into.
There is a '2nd section' of Antelope flat just a little bit further down the road - but that road is stupidly rutted and we would not dare do it. We saw some trailers (and vans) back there though - so it's doable.
Cellular data service here (especially if you rely on it) is very frustrating. AT&T towers were consistently overloaded and unusable - all day, all night. But, our AT&T plan is always subject to network management - so your miles may very. Verizon was 2-3 bars, but dropped semi-frequently to 3G or non-existent. And, between the hours of 12:30pm and 4:30pm, the towers were so overloaded that the experience was non-existent. An antenna helped solidify the signal - but as expected, it couldn't fight the tower overload. We did have to go into town to use the library's WiFi (AMAZING) one day. Calls over Verizon were okay - they occasionally wouldn't connect or would drop, but typically you could get through.
While we were here it was quiet, and everyone was respectful of each other. People kept generator noise to a very minimum - and in reasonable hours. If you've got solar then this is a great place - no tree obstruction. Which also means no shade.
It did get *very* dusty at times. When the wind picked up, we needed to batten down the hatches to avoid total indoor dust apocalypse. But, while we were there, this only happened a few times.
There were port-a-loos placed in the center of the camping areas (apparently by the local mountain bike company). The forest service came by on a Friday to prune the area.
In terms of going up Shadow Mountain - we wouldn't risk it in our big-butt rig, but anything with an engine and some guts could get up there pretty easily. After the initial deep rut when entering the mountain road entrance, the road up the mountain is actually pretty flat with just a couple of potholes here and there. It is narrow, however. And the access roads to the most of the sites are decently janky. Scout first - but if you can get up there... WOW. There are some really amazing sites with some ridiculous views and a bit more privacy up there (as well as a group area).

The road is terrible. Deeply rutted. It's in a valley amongst trees so many sites have obstructed to no view. It's small and feels claustrophobic. I arrived around 1 PM on a Wednesday and it was full. I ended up at Upper Teton View and I'm so happy I couldn't get a spot at Shadow Mountain.

We arrived late Thursday afternoon on 5/30/19 and stopped at the first grouping of sites 1-10 these were fine but regardless of how we would have angled we wouldn't have gotten views from our living room window which is what we always strive for.
There was a ranger near by so I asked how the conditions were going higher up and he said he would highly recommend we drop our trailer and explore with just the truck. Thank goodness we did! There is ZERO chance anyone is towing anything up that road. It is deeply rutted and washed out for most of the way (and it's always on one side or the other so you couldn't even just travel in the ruts, you would easily tip a trailer or a top heavy vehicle. It is also VERY steep and narrow and there is nowhere to turn around until you reach a right turn pretty far up the path.
What we discovered after this little exploration is that if we had gone about 100ft further up the road the sites 1-10 are located on there's 5 more sites and they are double the size of sites 1-10 and have far less trees obstructing the views.
Do not travel beyond these sites as the road has been blocked off 1mi down and there are clear "no camping" signs posted for the entirety of that 1mi. The only reason to go down there is the two hiking trails.
While site 15 is a little close to the road it's infrequently traveled and people drive very slowly due to the ruts so dust is not an issue. The views from 15 are like nothing we've ever experienced, they are INCREDIBLE! You are facing the very apex of the Grand Teton range and sunset and sunrise are just amazing!
The road to the sites is 90% paved, and 9% decent gravel with minimal washboarding...but there is 1% right before the sites themselves that will require extreme care if you're a larger rig. The area is DEEPLY rutted but if it's dry you can carefully navigate across the tops of the ruts. We chose to pull into the first group of sites (1-8) and take the route that cuts in front of sites 9 and 10 to get over to the second group of sites (11-15). We were pulling a 25ft travel trailer and we had a driver and a spotter, we went slow and we made it without incident. We were the largest rig we saw for our entire stay.
