What an amazing place, There is vast open Northern Prairie, the Missouri River Breaks region of pine forest, and the Missouri River floodplain . . . . so much to see . . .
With each visit I leave feeling I should have stayed longer.
So don't drive here for one Night - - - plan an adventure.

Loved the idea of supporting the Reserve and sleeping in the big wide open, which this is. We arrived hours earlier than expected and though the place was deserted, the host said something about us finding something to do for 4 or 5 hours, to our astonishment! So we drove up to Hays and around the Belknap Reservation which was beautiful despite a recent fire in the Little Rockies. The sites at APR are well spaced but the electrical post was ver far from the most level spot, and the van was some distance from the table. The No See Ums were awful when we came back about 330 pm, and it was very hot so we spent first two hours shut up in van with AC running and smashing the tiny bugs that had already gotten inside. But by sunset it cooled off, the bugs were gone and we had the entire place to ourselves except for one group in a cabin. Had to walk up road to catch a Verizon single bar or the "guest" wifi (which works enough to load some emails eventually). The only thing more beautiful than the sunset were the modern swanky restrooms. I didn't shower there though after my husb reported a very strong sulfur smell to the water. FYI, this campground is on a level good gravel road a very short distance from Hwy 191 (which the website doesn't make easy to find out). We did not find the drive up to Zortman to be worth it.

This is the more accessible of the two American Prairie Reserve Campgrounds. The sites are large and well spaced, the electricity worked well, there is access to potable water if needed, and the shower and bath room was modern, extremely clean, and functional. There is an informative 1.8 mile hiking loop around the campground. We parked right by the prairie dog area which was entertaining. The sky goes on forever and the campground was empty. All in all, a great experience. The campground does not have functional WiFi so for work you would need your own. The campground is easily found right off highway 191.

Easy access campground.. All RV sites are pull-through with 120V power. Larger rigs will need leveling. There are also 20 Tent Only, no electric power sites. Common area fresh water tap, dump station, and bath house. Rest Rooms / Showers are combined and roomy but limited to two stalls. Could be an issue if tent area has several visitors. For 2021 no open fires are allowed. It is not clear if fire rings will be installed in the future.
On-line reservations available. Consumer Cellular coverage 1 bar
While at Antelope Creek, check out::
Dellenback Interpretive Nature Trail, 1.75 mils long, is a nice walk around the greater campground area with information on the landscape and American Prairie Reserve organization.
Charles M. Russell National Wildlife Refuge Auto Tour north entry/exit is about 1.8 miles north of campground off US-191. Drive includes some information stops and wonderful views of river (when driven north to south)
