Javelina Designated Dispersed Camping

We arrived at 5:45pm and got the last available camping spot. Very beautiful views of the sunset, but there were a lot of flies and gnats flying around us as we were trying to eat dinner. We would stay here again because once we put on bug spray, it got a little better. The people in the spot next to us were yelling and cussing at each other, so it was not a great setting for children. However, they settled down around 9pm and went to sleep, so it became a lot more peaceful. The stars are STUNNING here and we even saw a shooting star!!

I read some reviews that said this spot is big right friendly…. It is not. We brought our 37 foot fifth wheel ip here and it was one of the most stressful days of rving we have had. We got into a spot but only after getting a few new scratches.

Also the exit has a major dip in it, which means we have to find a way to turn around and go out the entrance or we will bottom out.

This is mostly on me, I should have done more research and read more recent reviews. It’s a gorgeous spot for smaller rigs, but if your rig is over 30’ don’t repeat my mistake 😅

Close Access To Sedona. 5G With Verizon T-mobile But Better Data Speed With AT&T. Not A Lot Of Room For Big Rigs. My 30’ Class c Had To Disconnect toad To Turn Around. One Big Spot Out Front but it was full Of Class Bs.

I drove my car past the site to check if max 24’ was true. It was unless ur big rig has 4x4 or u are braver then me

This place is beautiful but very busy! If you’re a big rig, don’t go past the first alcove on the right. There is a sign that says no rvs over 24’ and it will be very difficult to turn around if you go past that. Our Verizon was good but T-mobile was pretty poor. Close to the city which was really nice. Forestry service came out continuously while we we’re there to enforce the 14 day limit and make sure ppl knew the rules/expectations. No fires allowed. The road in is easy but there is a shallow dip at both entrances that can be a bit concerning but we made it in ok.

I would walk or detach if possible before going back to far. Turn around space is limited if you pass up the first sight on your right.

Att was spotty and I had difficulty working.

There are basically three coves. The first Cove on your right as yo are driving in was a little packed, so I kept driving about a mile in and pulled into the second Cove on the left. At the time of my trip the third Cove about a quarter mile down on the left was not accessible with my trailer. It was washed out and rutted. Vans cars and trailers with clearance seemed ok. Space is rather limited at this second cove but it’s worth the drive if you get in. Dust and traffic is far less than across the street. I stayed at the second Cove. When I arrived there was only one other camper. Occasionally vans pull in at night and stay, a few nights it got a little crowded but everyone was quiet and left early. There is a mattress under a tree that’s the only trash that I saw. Otherwise very clean. If you get a chance take a run down the road check out the creek. Overall I enjoyed waking up to the mountain views, it was quiet and peaceful and would definitely stay here again. Take it slow the road is bumpy. Enjoy the scenery!
