“The rules have changed”

Reviewed Oct 16, 2017

Overall Rating

Much of 89b , Angel Valley Road, dispersed camping, has been changed to day use. The lower portion of 89b dispersed camping area has been changed to day use . About halfway up the gravel road there is some dispersed camping on the right. When We Were Here on Monday it was very crowded. However directly across 89 there is Forest Road 5... more

“Great Drycamping Spot for Sedona”

Reviewed Apr 17, 2017

Overall Rating

We stayed at the Deer Pass Trailhead which is right off highway 89a and makes for very easy and convenient access to Sedona, Cottonwood and Jerome. The trailhead has one of the only bathrooms in the area so it was at times a bit busy but the scenery is beautiful. Every morning where the weather was clear we would be greeted by a half d... more

“Great Place For Small Rigs For Others Not So Much”

Reviewed Mar 16, 2017

Overall Rating

When you first come off the road there is a fairly good sized area off to the right. There were maybe 3 good sized rigs and a bunch of van/car/truck camper type of campers. Even if there had been no smaller units there would have only been room for maybe 5 big rigs without being right on top of someone. When we got there it was totall... more

“Wonderful boondocking spot close to Sedona”

Reviewed Jan 28, 2017

Overall Rating

We are traveling the country and this was one of our favorite boondocking sites. Only 20 minutes into Sedona and super close to countless hikes and trails. Area does get busy but there is plenty of space. We experienced hot air balloon rides over our rig almost each morning. Not a lot of light pollution so sunsets are spectacular.

“Off grid camping with great views and cell service”

Reviewed Nov 13, 2016

Overall Rating

We camped at the second right turn off from the main road. GPS took us right to the spot. The only pit toilets are at the Deer Pass Trail head. We wanted a bit more privacy so we passed the trail head and camped a bit further up. The road is pretty bumpy but pretty easily manageable for most RVs and campers. You can find a pretty flat s... more

“Found a private site, but mostly crowded.”

Reviewed Mar 08, 2016

Overall Rating

Folks seem to camp pretty close to their neighbors here, but we managed to find a spot with some privacy. Access was good, cell was good, nice views of the valley. Little trash laying around, but not too bad. Would camp here again when in the Sedona area.

“FREE dry camping in a beautiful location”

Reviewed Feb 09, 2016

We loved this spot in the Coconino national forest. Grand views, direct access to the LimeKiln trail (equestrian, hiking, biking), quiet, easy access, and friends to share meals with. And free! We stayed in the first large pull out area on the left. We had ample room for 3 Airstreams and tow vehicles. If you continue up the hill you... more

“Great boon docking spot”

Reviewed Oct 21, 2015

Overall Rating

Just 5 minutes or so from West Sedona. Really, when boon docking, all I'm needing is quiet and level, and no drama. This road is just that. There were many folks in the pull outs along this road, everyone seemed courteous and quiet, tidy and respectful. ALSO important: the 525 road nearby was MUDDY after a rain and we nearly got... more

The road in is nicely graded gravel and there is a large parking area close to 89A with room for larger rigs. There is a major trailhead here with vault toilets. There are other dispersed camping sites farther in on 89B and we stayed... more
