Camped here on a Sunday evening. No other campers. The campground has 4 sites and 1, maybe 2 sites to put a small camper or trailer. There are tables, fire pits and tent pads at each site. There are bearproof trash receptacles and a pit toilet, which was locked due to covid.

Although the site was not listed as a covid closure on the Nantahala website and I spoke with a ranger on the phone who told me camping was still allowed here after a few days a ranger drove up, asked me what I was doing and told me he had to give me fines for being here. Besides that a decent place off a gravel road sandwiched between 2 very well to do residential areas, the inhabitants of which driving by on the gravel road are my prime suspects for ratting me out to the ranger. Other reviewers mentioned waterfalls, I hiked all over the place and didn't find them. Check out my full video review from my show "Bryan's Nature Series!"

Definately plan to come back with camper but please beware, some asshole posted a picture with an outlet in rock by restroom, totally photoshopped, I can attest it does not exist. Also there are other primitive sits along this road that are very nice and a bridge crossing with a beautiful waterfall!!!

This is a Nantahala National Forest campground. Small RV or tents only. Turnaround is tight. Camping is free and there are only 4 sites here. Only one site is set up to accommodate an RV but since a pop-up occupied that site, we parked on the gravel culdesac adjacent to a site and it worked well for our 16ft trailer. Nice vault toilet, well maintained. Lovely area in the Ellicott Rock Wilderness. Lots of hiking trails with great vistas and waterfall rewards. Chatooga River is gorgeous and offers great fly fishing. Only reason for 3 stars is the limited space and that your experience is completely dependent on who you get for neighbors. The sites are close together. You could have the place to yourselves, or you could be sandwiched in. Our experience was fine. The 1.7 miles of gravel road in is winding but doable with 2 wheel. The area is fantastic.
