About an hour away is the Apopka Wildlife Drive. I highly recommend it! Beautiful 11-mile drive, with lots of beautiful birds and guaranteed to see alligator! We saw at least 50. And its FREE!
The showers are clean but definitely need an update. They had semi warm water.

Very quiet location in a semi-tropical forest setting with a stream to swim in - even if it had a 5 ft alligator nearby. Had some okay hiking trailheads staring out across the street for both hiking and biking. Check out All Trails for info. Just start out early as it does get hot and humid in mid April. RV'd with my 30 ft. Showers and bathrooms were clean and parked on pavement with slight angle. Camp area had table and fire pit with bear lockers.

Heavy tree hard to get solar. Att weak one bar.

The noise of cars on the main road can be heard at all hours of the day and evening and if you are really lucky the Naval base will start shooting and dropping bombs.
Every campground in Florida is ridiculous.
The spring is nice for a day trip that’s about it.

Most of the campground is heavily wooded. I managed to find a spot using Google Maps that had some sun for our solar. That being said, it was almost impossible to back into our spot due to a stump and tree. The tree also prevented us from putting our awning out all the way. It would be a tight fit for a slide on that slide. Oddly, the fire pit and grill where on the back side of our trailer. Not the best spot in the campground. And finally the two water spigots and bath houses in our loop were closed due to a water line break.
That being said, we had a wonderful time at the spring. Renting a canoe was a highlight. We could see all the fish and turtles. We also saw a good number of different birds.

Second-year to stay here on site 66, it is a handy cap site. 38 ft coach with a tow vehicle, the site is level and easy access. The springs are very pretty and clear. The only downfall is this year they are having a water problem and having to close down the shower houses at times.

We stayed in site 8. Great site for a trailer. There is a pretty big step from the pavement to the sand. I always trip or stub my toe. Sites only sort of level. Surprisingly good cell service with Verizon. 5 to 10 mbps. You really have be careful about the site you pick. A lot of sites are only good for tents.

We decided to camp here at the last moment. This campground is located in the middle of Ocala National Forest and we were super excited to stay next to Florida Springs. The campground seemed to have a lot of outdoor activities and amenities, such as biking, canoeing, hiking and swimming.
Although the campground itself is sort of average, the pure and clear Florida Springs amazed us and we end up spending most of our day light time at it. We were trying to find some nature trails, but the only ones we were able to hike/bike was the one going to the recreational area. Wish there was more nature trails to show off that Florida beauty.
