Several camping sites located near the Abbot Bay Boat Ramp. One offers a water view and can fit larger RVs, while the others are up a rough dirt road and are only suitable for truck campers or tents.

“Incredible Location in the Mountains, but completely off the grid”

Overall Rating

This was a great campsite as we parked our RV right next to the water in the boat launch area. There was one other TT next to us and plenty of tenters in the harder to access areas down the rough roads. Downside is there is absolutely no cell signal from AT&T or Verizon. Even with a booster we couldn't even send emails.

The road in is about 6 miles of extremely rough washboard gravel.

“Mountain lake to ourselves!”

Reviewed Oct 27, 2015

Overall Rating

Abbot Bay boat launch offers individual spaces for tents and truck campers up a dirt road. For the lucky one (or several if you bring friends) you can park right by the lake! We arrived mid-day Friday, not long after the previous people left. There is an Rv space a bit back from the water for one Rv, but we chose to park on the rocks near the lake and this didn't seem to be a problem. Over the weekend a few locals came out for some fishing, but otherwise we felt like we had the place to ourselves. There is currently a 14 day maximum (we stayed the second weekend of October 2015) but our lack of AT&T signal kept our stay short. If we'd had Verizon or a booster, we believe would have had full signal.
