As for the area, it’s beautiful with easy access to the water. The area is small and wouldn’t be ideal for larger rigs but worked well for our van. We arrived on a Sunday night and it was packed with locals. They were interesting but didn’t bother us and disappeared by mid evening. By morning, we had the place pretty much to ourselves.

Only room for 2rv’s but a homeless woman is living in one of the spots. Would 100% recommend for tents/vans only; take the trails back into the woods where there are plenty of places to camp. If you do choose to bring your RV, scout first. If there are people parked near the water, there will be no way for you to turn around. Some of the pictures of this site are not correct. Some nice locals told us the other side of the reservoir is the ‘nicer side’. Super close to glaciers west entrance. Pretty nice road coming in.

15 minutes past the paved road. Beautiful spot. Very tight for big rigs. If no one is around you can get turned around. Cell phone data not usable even with a booster. Could voice call and text. One fairly level site by the lake. The others are on a slope. 25 minutes from west glacier entrance.

Nonetheless, the location is beautiful, there's lots of space for camping. Only about 25 minutes from the west entrance of Glacier.

We decided to go down this well graded forest road without scouting ahead. Yes, yes, we know! Well, we won’t do that again! We were on our way to this site when a car coming out stopped and warned us not to go any farther down the road. Turns out there were so many cars parked down at the boat launch site that it would be impossible for us to turn our 35’ 5th wheel around. It was also impossible for us turn around on the road, so we backed her up about a mile before being able to turn her around!

The road in is about 6 miles of extremely rough washboard gravel.

Abbot Bay boat launch offers individual spaces for tents and truck campers up a dirt road. For the lucky one (or several if you bring friends) you can park right by the lake! We arrived mid-day Friday, not long after the previous people left. There is an Rv space a bit back from the water for one Rv, but we chose to park on the rocks near the lake and this didn't seem to be a problem. Over the weekend a few locals came out for some fishing, but otherwise we felt like we had the place to ourselves. There is currently a 14 day maximum (we stayed the second weekend of October 2015) but our lack of AT&T signal kept our stay short. If we'd had Verizon or a booster, we believe would have had full signal.
