Nice level gravel (new&clean), but no privacy between lots. Price high for just an overnight.

Tips - Arrive earlier if you want/need to talk with rangers. There are equestrian sites and non-equestrian sites so, make sure you know what type you're booking.
Favorites - All the sites up top (non-equestrian) near the tower have been redone so, they're very nice. The location near the A. H. Stephens home is very cool.
Negatives - One leg of our 50-amp was bad so, we had to step down to 30-amp. No biggie.

The spacing of sites is extremely generous, and the sites themselves are very big. Many of them are pull throughs. Water, sewer and electric are on many,if not all of them. There is an easy2 mile hike with a lake view which has some nice features when it’s through the woods on an old CCC road, but loses points for having a long stretch along a paved park roadway. Not many dining options nearby. A pretty lake greets you on arrival. It’s just a gorgeous little park sitting in the woods. Get away from everything and come relax here!

Arrival - This state park is off the beaten track (I-20 East) but, well worth the visit. Narrow roads leading into the visitor/registration center with only two spots for temporary parking.
Tips - Arrive early enough to navigate the narrow approaches, roads, and rough spots in the road. Stock up on food and fuel before arrival as there is really no provisioning in the immediate area.
Favorites - Isolation, trails, greenery, fishing, equestrian, and learning opportunities related to the South's participation in the Civil War.
Negatives - as mentioned, the roads are narrow and rough in spots and the lack of close provisioning.
Note - the nightly rate reflects our discounts. There are many discount opportunities, especially if your'e a GA resident.

Campsites are large and well spaced, with plenty of space for larger rigs. Roads are paved, but campsites are gravel. Shower house and restrooms are clean, heated for the cool weather, and close enough for a quick hike from campsites. Hookups are water and electric (no sewer). Hiking is mostly easy, with some of the equestrian trails also available for hiking. We did not visit the equestrian side of the park. This park is obviously well loved and cared for.

A quiet park not far from I-20. Sites are mostly level. Most of the sites are long enough for any rig, with enough space between to not feel crowded. The current camp hosts are very friendly and gave us a tour of their schoolie. Electric and water hookups only, but there is a double dump on the way out. There are a couple nature trails. Most of the trails, however, are for horses, and there is a separate campground for them. Plenty of geocaches. If the GPS tries to have you turn at the courthouse in Crawfordville, don't do it. There is a very low railroad bridge that you must go under. Follow the brown signs on US 278 to the west of town to go around the bridge and come back to the park entrance. All in all, it was a very relaxing weekend. We would definitely return.

We and another couple stayed here for the Thanksgiving week. The only sites available at booking time were in the equestrian section. If you like seeing (and hearing) horses, this is just an added benefit. We took several hikes in the park, none were strenuous. The camp host and other campers were very friendly. Our site (22) had a wooden 'porch' like area on it for the grill, fire ring, and picnic table - very nice. One note for tall campers, do not let your GPS take you on memorial street. There is a 12' bridge there and no way to turn around. Just follow the 'brown' park signs from the road to go around it. Only internet available is close to the office - cell service was pretty poor (but I'm OK with that).

Stayed one night, in and out, on our way north. Site is a pull thru double with a back in too, would be great place to gather with camping friend. Most all of the site here would be easy to get in and out here with our PU trk/ 28' TT. Great wooded surrounding & some trails to explore if you have the time. We'll come back again.
