“Very Pretty but Crowded”

Nice boondocking area with easy access and close to Flagstaff. Maybe too close. All the beauty, great cell signal location are ruined by lot's of people, a fair number of whom appear to be living here more than camping. Trash is also a problem. Admittedly, we're camped near the entrance but we didn't have a chance to scout the area... more

We stayed for one night in April. When we arrived there were already tons of campers, but there’s lots of room so we were able to find a spot fairly easily. Campsites aren’t marked or defined at all really, you just pick any area that looks good to you. The road in gets bumpier the further you drive but anyone could make it. There’... more

“Second time was a charm ”

Gave this place a 2nd chance on pur way to Lake Havasu and was able to find a really cool spot secluded right off the road. Very convenient to town and good spot to stop over at. We did wake up to 2 inches of snow on the ground so check weather before staying there as the road was a little sketchy when slick.

“Wonderful and free National Forest dry camping. Quiet and full of wildlife.”

Semi-rough dirt road, but okay for any vehicle. Close to Flagstaff with lots of sites, some in the forest and others in the open. There was very light OHV traffic while we were there; and hardly anyone else around. We stayed May 2018 and the area was clean. 3 bars Verizon LTE and we stayed in an open area for solar power. We dum... more

Washboard road. Drove about 2 miles before hitting really rough road that turned me around. Couldn't find a suitable spot. Did pull in a very small site right on the road and in the sun. Sat for about 5 minutes before deciding not for me. So I moved on elsewhere. Looks like many of the campers had taken up root here. It's a maybe for m... more

“Too popular.”

Reviewed Sep 29, 2018

Late September and the place is packed. Nice area though except for the constant rumbling of trains. Getting away from the main road with a larger RV is challenging, lots of spots for small rigs and car campers. Lots of household like garbage near our site (bags of diapers, old clothes, etc).

2 miles past the cattle gate, and past the tent camper, we found a very peaceful spot far from anyone. There are a lot of pull in spots with fire rings near the main dirt road. If you take a left at the second fork you can go further into the forest. Cell service is good until you make the left turn but the serenity is well worth it. ... more
