We try to sleep for free as often as possible. But sometimes you need good services such as a shower and laundry. This was one of our best nights on our two week trip. The host is welcoming and helpful. You can hear the roaring sound of the river everywhere. If you have kids you can walk to the small water park nearby

Been coming here for decades and is a wonderful little park that is centered in town, so walking is all you'll need.

We tried to move to a back in but they aren’t angled and there were trucks directly across from the spot so we couldn’t get it in. They refunded us and let us leave .... ( kept the tax). The location is good - right next to town and I hear the owner is great but she wasn’t there that day. Office staff seemed to be trying her best and was trying to be flexible for us but was not overly friendly. I’m glad we got to leave. Would not recommend.

We had booked 5 nights at this campground. Upon arrival, we were given our spot and headed back. As soon as we saw it, we knew we could not get level. It was one long slope. Our neighbor's tires were jacked up off the ground, and his site was more level than ours. We gave it a try anyway, and failed. I put five levels of blocks under our front tires and a corresponding number under the front jacks, and STILL the auto leveling system raised the RV inches above the surface. I've attached a picture that shows the front wheel jacked up off the blocks. There was simply no way we were ever going to get safely leveled in that spot.
So, we headed back to the office and told them the situation. We asked the attendant if she could just give us a different site, as there were loads of empty sites in the campground (photo attached from when we were driving out). She said she thought they were going to be full, but she would check with the manager. She left and then the manager came back in and said "Ok, so we'll just run you a refund and put the charge back on the card." Didn't even
look at the calendar to see if she could move an upcoming reservation from one spot to another to accommodate us, didn't try to come up with an alternative solution ("we can put you in this spot for one night and a different spot a different night"), didn't apologize for the inconvenience, nothing. Just: "Take your money and get out." My husband and I looked at each other like "Wait. Did we miss something?" But nope... they apparently just don't give a crap about their customers. Even worse, they decided to tell us to "just get out" on a Friday afternoon in June in the summer in Colorado. Great.Thanks.
Even if we had been able to stay, I can't say we would have been impressed with the campground. We were in site 21-W. When we were checking in, the lady said to not worry that there was someone parked in what had been labeled a "grassy area" on the campground map. She said, "we call that site 21-W PLUS" - meaning they jammed an extra campsite into the space next to ours. When we drove up, we noticed that guy had run his cords and hoses behind our site to our utility tower (photo attached). So we would have been sharing the utility pole with him.
Finally, the houses across from our site were pretty run down, overgrown weeds, etc. It all just felt kind of dumpy, to be honest. All of which would have been forgivable if not for the unfriendly and unhelpful customer service we encountered.
Given that, we won't be back.

Great location and very friendly staff. You can walk to the entire downtown area, including the hot spring mineral baths from this park. It sits right on the river and wildlife wanders thru on occasion.
The pull thru sites are plenty long but they are very close on either side. Your neighbor's hookups are, literally, right beside your picnic table. But, with so much to do, you aren't home for long, its not a big deal. The tent sites were quite nice, roomy and set up for privacy. Each one had their own fire ring and, it appeared, the park provided wood.
If you didn't come to Ouray from Silverton, consider making the drive in your tow car. Its got steep roads, hairpin turns and 10-15mph is all you'll want to do...but the views! Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park is within an hour's drive, not to be missed. There are two great museums in Montrose (about 30 minutes north of Ouray).

GREAT clean bathrooms, showers, laundry room, you can tell they care - and I appreciate it. The wifi was atrocious, but where is it not? For data, another reviewer put on here that AT&T has 4G, but they're wrong, AT&T service only gets to HSPA+ in-town, and it's a weak signal at that. I was really counting on AT&T LTE working here but it only seems to pickup on the North side of Ouray and on the way out of town really, not IN town where it matters. Zero Tmobile to speak of, had to get Verizon to have some LTE which bounces in/out depending on how many folks are in-town, it seems (haha, yes, i measure that!).

We arrived just before Labor Day and the park was packed. It tapered off afterwards and the office made sure to space new arrivals out. We did have trouble getting into our spot because the neighbors had their awning out, reaching to the very edge of our space and they weren't home to retract it.. Between that, the concrete pot on the other side, and the fence behind us, we had only an inch of room to spare turning in. We ended up out on the street backing into the space which was fine.
The sites are all gravel and I thought the sunken water connection were a little weird and it would be hard to use our filter on it. The clean laundry room has 3 machines each for washing and drying. Washing was $2 and dryers were $1 and took me two runs to get clothes dry. Our internet started out pretty good, but then slowed down, would get hung up, and at one point we had 3g on Verizon. It can back soon after that.
The town itself is cute and has quite a few restaurants. Maggie's Kitchen makes good burgers and black bean burgers. You only need the 1/4 lb, trust us. There is a lot of off-roading in the area that takes you to some beautiful scenery. It is called the Jeeping Capital of the World. If you don't own a 4x4 vehicle, there are a ton of jeeps to rent. Ridgway is about 20 minutes away and Silverton is about 45 minutes away over the Million Dollar Highway (very curvy shelf road).
