I found a good level site for my 35 ft. 5th wheel. Turn right at the bottom of the main drive and follow to the end past the (locked) vault toilet. There is a turn around loop at the end with a nice pull off where I set up. Great view of the lake from there. Views only go so far though. The lake itself is unfortunately dead. No fish... more

Views only go so far though. The lake itself is unfortunately dead. No fish... no birds. The river that once fed it has been completely diverted for irrigation and the lake is half the size it once was. Plenty of small lizards around that my dog enjoyed chasing. They're fast little guys. Those and the swarms of little white flies that varied in intensity depending on the weather were the only life I saw there. The lifelessness wore on me after a while so I left earlier than planned.
Winds were pretty strong in the afternoon/evening. Overall very quiet with little road noise . Few other campers, but none close by as the area is quite spread out.

Quite place to boondock on BLM land. Windy at night calm morning. 3 day weekend in June. Just 3 other campers.
Great sunset and sunrise with sierra backdrop. Small fly swarms at night.

Only one here on a Friday in May, 74 degrees no bugs! Dog swim and I soaked in beautiful view. If you walk the site first, you'll be fine. Really very simple. Much more rustic and private than Soortsman's up road. Hawthorne is a stones throw away and has a Safeway. I'll be back.

There are plenty of spaces either right, dirt road, or left, gravel road from the main road off the highway. The roads are full of washboards but take it slow and it’s ok. I stayed in the first turnout left of the T. Most sunsets and sunrises shouldn’t be missed. There are LOTS of opportunities to get stuck if you go off the main road. Deep sand and dry ground that’s only dry on the surface is everywhere. Summer temperatures ranged from 70~95+ every day. Most days the wind came up in the afternoon into the night and ranged from about 10 mph to gusts in the high 20 mph range. This isn’t a water recreation lake. ATT coverage was 4 bars of LTE. Highway noise was next to nonexistent.

Some tosser left trash including shirt in fire ring. Otherwise clean.
Definitely a great layover option.

Stayed overnight in a van. No other campers. Saw coyotes going down to the lake. We stayed in the gravel area. Hike down to the lake.Definitely worth a stay if you’re in the area.

What a beautiful hidden gem. We stopped here for the night. Not many others around. Great pullouts on firm ground, pretty nice gravel roads. We decided to try to get closer to the water. Don’t do it without 4x4. We got stuck but a really nice local who was nearby, helped us out (THANK YOU DAKOTA!!). The lake is beautiful. It’s a salt lake and you can reportedly swim in it, though we didn’t. There are toilets. No plumbing. No hookups. No trash bins. Pack it in, pack it out. Dropped a star for the soft sand, the high evening winds, and a little road noise from the highway. Otherwise, it’s fabulous.

What a great spot. Few neighbors, beautiful view, minimal trash. Warmed up enough to even get some paddle boarding in!
Be careful to check the path into your spot, saw several people get stuck in the sand. It can be windy so may not be the best for tents. Verizon & AT&T were spotty, first time i got good use out of my Google Fi
